The holiday season is a time of joy and celebration and often most of us look forward to it each year, but it can also be a time when our goals for healthy eating and fitness may be challenged. It's important to remember that it's okay to indulge and enjoy the delicious food and time with loved ones, without feeling guilty or placing undue pressure on ourselves. I came up with eight tips to help you stay motivated this holiday season.

Here are some tips for keeping fitness goals during the holiday season:

  1. Make a plan: Set specific fitness goals for the holiday season and make a plan for how you will achieve them. This might include scheduling workouts or finding ways to incorporate physical activity into your daily routine.

  2. Stay active: Look for opportunities to be active during the holiday season, such as going for a walk after a holiday meal or taking a hike with friends and family.

  3. Don't skip workouts: It can be tempting to skip workouts during the busy holiday season, but try to stay consistent with your fitness routine as much as possible.

  4. Find a workout buddy: Having a workout buddy can help motivate you to stay active and stick to your fitness goals.

  5. Stay hydrated: Drinking plenty of water can help keep you feeling energized and support your fitness goals.

  6. Eat mindfully: It's okay to indulge a little during the holidays, but try to make healthy choices most of the time and pay attention to portion sizes.

  7. Be flexible: Don't be too hard on yourself if you miss a workout or indulge in a treat. Just get back on track as soon as you can and don't let one misstep derail your entire fitness plan.

  8. Find a balance: Remember that the holidays are also a time to relax and enjoy time with loved ones. It's okay to take a break from your fitness routine and focus on other activities, as long as you find a balance and don't completely abandon your goals.
