CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER PROTEIN SMOOTHIE BOWL

JUMP TO RECIPE

If you are looking for a more fun twist on a traditional protein smoothie, well this one is for you! This is so fun to put together and the peanut butter chocolate shell just takes it up a notch. It is 100% plant-based with the use of dairy free chocolate chips and vegan protein powder, but feel free to use dairy products for this if you prefer.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • one frozen banana. Make sure to use a frozen one because that will make you smoothie a lot thicker

  • one scoop of plant-based chocolate protein. Use dairy protein powder if you are okay with dairy

  • one tablespoon of creamy peanut butter. Use peanut butter that is contains just peanuts and salt. No other additives such as sugar or palm oil

  • 1/3 cup plant-based milk. I used almond milk.

for the chocolate shell

To make the chocolate shell, you will need a couple tablespoons of peanut butter chips. For dairy free, I used the brand Davis Chocolates. It is an online store that sells dairy free chocolate chips with really clean ingredients. Otherwise, you can use regular dairy free chocolate chip that you can find at any major grocery store or use dairy peanut butter chips if you would like.

  • place the chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl. Add a 1/2 tsp of coconut oil and microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring each time afterwards until smooth and creamy. This should only take 30 seconds.

  • You will then pour this on top of your smoothie bowl and place it in the freezer for 5 minutes or so to harden and form a shell.

for the toppings

I used sliced bananas, chia seeds, and more peanut butter for my toppings but this is YOUR bowl, so feel free to add whatever toppings you would like.
