This super creamy, cheesy, and crunchy baked Mac and cheese is a weekly staples. It's so simple and perfect for the entire family.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup pearl couscous
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 cup milk (additional)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for breadcrumbs)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the pearl couscous in water according to package instructions.
  2. Once the couscous is cooked, reduce the heat to low and stir in the butter, shredded cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, and additional milk.
  3. Stir continuously until the cheese is melted and the mixture is creamy.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Transfer the couscous and cheese mixture to a greased baking dish.
  7. In a small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs with the melted butter. Mix until the breadcrumbs are evenly coated.
  8. Add some more shredded cheddar cheese and sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the top of the couscous and cheese.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the breadcrumbs are golden brown and the dish is heated through. You can set oven to broil on high for a couple minutes to get the top even more crispy, just make sure you are watching it carefully so that it does not burn.
  10. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
