The viral costard toast is an easy breakfast or snack that is so quick to make.
Ingredients
- 2 pieces of bread. I am using French bread.
- 1 egg
- 3 tbsp plain greek yogurt
- 1 tsp pure maple syrup
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Cinnamon Sugar Slurry
- 2 tbsp coconut sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- touch of water
Instructions
- To start, preheat air fryer at 350F for 5 minutes.
- In a small bowl, whisk together egg, yogurt, maple syrup, and vanilla. Whisk until smooth.
- Make cinnamon sugar slurry by combining coconut sugar, cinnamon, and water until a thin runny slurry forms. Add a small amount of water at a time. You need a pourable thin consistency here.
- To the bread, press down the center with the pads of your fingers to make a well.
- Pour custard in the center of the bread. Add swirls of cinnamon sugar slurry and carefully transfer to the air fryer. *You can also do the above steps directly in the air fryer basket to avoid spilling the custard over when transferring into the air fryer basket.
- Air fry at 350F for 5 minutes or until edges are golden and the custard has set. You can also bake this at 400F for 10-15 min in the oven.
- I like to add powdered sugar and enjoy!
